Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about working with a commercial and corporate photographer serving Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego.
What types of photography do you specialize in?
Three core specialties: corporate event photography, executive portraits, and professional headshots for business professionals, actors, and artists. Whether it's an annual conference for a Fortune 500 company, a C-suite portrait series, or a headshot session for a talent agency's roster, these are the types of projects handled day in and day out.
Do you photograph corporate events?
Yes. Corporate event photography includes conferences, product launches, award ceremonies, trade shows, company retreats, team-building events, and internal leadership summits. Coverage is available for both half-day and multi-day events, and a consistent second shooter can be arranged for larger productions.
What is the difference between a corporate portrait and a headshot?
A corporate portrait is a broader, often more styled image — think environmental portraits at your office, leadership team imagery for an annual report, or branded photos for a company website. A headshot is a tighter, head-and-shoulders image primarily used for LinkedIn profiles, press bios, conference speaker pages, and talent agencies. Both are offered as standalone sessions or as part of a larger on-site team photography day.
Do you photograph actors and artists as well as business professionals?
Absolutely. Actor headshots, musician press photos, and artist portfolio images are all part of the work. The approach for a performer differs from a corporate headshot — it emphasizes personality and range — and sessions are tailored accordingly. Prints and digital files are delivered in the formats required by casting agencies and industry submissions.
Do you use AI in your photography or editing process?
AI plays a limited role in the workflow, and only where it supports quality rather than replacing judgment. When used, it's applied selectively during the editing process — never in a way that produces an over-processed or artificial result. Every final image is reviewed and refined by hand to ensure the subject looks natural, authentic, and true to who they are. The standard stays the same regardless of what tools are involved.
What areas of Southern California do you serve?
The full Southern California region is covered, including Santa Barbara, Ventura County, Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena, Long Beach, Orange County (Anaheim, Irvine, Newport Beach), and San Diego. Travel is regularly made to corporate campuses, hotel venues, studios, and office locations throughout these areas.
Do you shoot on location, in a studio, or both?
Both. Studio sessions offer a controlled environment with consistent, clean backgrounds — ideal for team headshot days or standardized executive portraits. On-location shoots bring the photography to your office, event venue, or a chosen outdoor setting, which works well for environmental portraits and corporate events. Many clients choose a hybrid approach: studio-style portable lighting set up on-site at their office for consistent team headshots without requiring staff to travel.
Can you come to our office for a team headshot day?
Yes, and it's one of the most popular options for companies across Southern California. A portable studio setup is brought directly to your workplace — all that's needed is a small, reasonably quiet space. Sessions can be scheduled in 10–15 minute slots per person, making it efficient to photograph an entire team in a single workday without anyone needing to leave the office.
How do I book a session?
Reach out via the contact form or by email to discuss your project. After a brief conversation to understand your needs, a quote and a session agreement are provided. A deposit is required to hold your date, with the remaining balance due on or before the shoot day. For corporate clients coordinating large team sessions or multi-day events, it's recommended to book at least three to four weeks in advance to ensure date availability.
How far in advance should I book?
For individual headshot sessions, one to two weeks is usually sufficient. For corporate events, team headshot days, or multi-person portrait sessions, booking three to six weeks ahead is strongly recommended — particularly for events with fixed dates like conferences or product launches.
What should I wear to a headshot session?
Wear what represents how you want to be perceived professionally. A few practical tips:
•Solid colors photograph better than busy patterns or logos
•Bring two or three outfit options to give yourself variety
•Avoid large, distracting jewelry unless it's part of your brand
•For actors, bring options that reflect different character types
•Clothes should be clean, pressed, and well-fitted
•A detailed prep guide is sent after booking.
How long does it take to receive my photos?
Headshot and portrait sessions are typically delivered within five to seven business days. Corporate event galleries are generally delivered within seven to ten business days. Rush delivery is available for an additional fee — please mention your deadline at booking.
What file formats and sizes are provided?
High-resolution JPEG files are delivered via a private online gallery, sized for both print and web use. LinkedIn-optimized and web-ready versions are included at no extra cost. If your agency, publication, or platform requires a specific format, size, or color profile, just let us know and files will be prepared accordingly.
Are retouching and image editing included?
Professional editing — including color correction, exposure balancing, and skin retouching — is included on all selected final images. The goal is a natural, polished result that looks like you on your best day, not an over-processed version. Additional retouching requests (composite work, background replacement, etc.) can be arranged for an additional fee.
How much does a headshot session cost?
Pricing depends on the session length, number of final images, and whether studio or on-location. Packages are available for individual sessions as well as group and corporate rates. Contact us for a quote — most clients receive a detailed proposal within one business day.
Do you offer corporate or volume pricing for team headshots?
Yes. Discounted per-person rates are available for companies booking headshots for five or more employees. Many companies in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas use this for onboarding new hires, refreshing leadership team pages, or standardizing employee directories. Volume rates and multi-session retainer arrangements are available — reach out to discuss your team's needs.
